Founder Shannon Haley launched Tiny Tides in 2024 with a vision to support families in finding trusted, professional childcare. Most often, Shannon can be found teaching, coaching, or working alongside children. With over 20 years of experience in childcare, education, and child development, she brings a deep understanding of children’s needs and a thoughtful approach to creating strong, lasting connections between families and caregivers.
Throughout her career, Shannon has found joy in thoughtfully matching families with babysitters, nannies, and tutors they can trust. After welcoming her first child, Matthew, in June 2023, the need for reliable, high-quality childcare became even more personal and apparent. As both an educator and recruiter, Shannon founded Tiny Tides to ease the stress of the childcare search, using her expertise to identify and place caregivers who meet the highest standards of professionalism, reliability, and care.
Shannon earned her degree in Sociology and Education from Bates College and holds a Master’s degree in Elementary Education from Merrimack College. While at Bates, she was a member of the field hockey team and served as captain during her senior year, developing the leadership and teamwork skills that continue to shape her work today.
Shannon lives in Newburyport, Massachusetts with her husband, Justin, and their two sons, Matthew and William. She is a second-grade teacher in Newburyport, the Varsity Field Hockey Coach at Newburyport High School, and a co-founder of Newburyport Youth Field Hockey. Through each of these roles, Shannon is deeply committed to fostering a supportive, enriching environment for children and families in her community.
